DeLorean the play at Edinburgh Festival Fringe

DeLorean the play at Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Any Back to the Future fans out there will, of course, know about the DeLorean car and its time-travelling fame from the classic 80’s film. But not many people know about the brand’s origins and role in Northern Ireland’s history. This year in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Freedom Picture Company have decided to honour that story, in DeLorean.

The cast of DeLorean

I was invited by their PR Manager, Alison from ADuguid PR, to come along at the start of their run at The Assembly Rooms, to take some production shots of the show. This being August, there was no opportunity for a dress rehearsal at the venue, where I would usually take photos. Instead, I watched the performance, notepad and paper in hand, taking notes of what scenes and set ups I wanted to shoot afterwards. As much as I was busy thinking of angles and lighting during the show, I also thoroughly enjoyed the play – it’s a fascinating true story, performed impeccably by the cast.

We had just ten minutes after the show, and before the next show, to get the shots. But with some fantastic collaboration with the cast, director and promoter, we got a good selection of production shots. Hopefully the images prove useful to them. The show is on until Sunday 27 August – do go along if you can.
