For the past couple of months, I have been to more restaurants than I usually visit in a year. Unfortunately, I’ve not actually eaten at all of them (most of them, though). Instead, I’ve been working with Uber, who launched their food delivery service in Scotland recently. The app, called UberEATS, will allow users to order from over 100 outlets, and get food delivered straight to them.

BCF Technologies provide professional scanning equipment for veterinary use, and recently I was brought on board to take photos for a new promotional campaign. Their latest products use WiFi technology to allow handheld scanning equipment to be more portable.
Although it feels like yesterday, I realised recently that it has been ten years since I did photography for the Edinburgh International Film Festival‘s ‘new’ branding.
Well, not quite, but it is an honour not many people get – to say that their work will be featured on literally millions of pounds – and I’m delighted that I will be able to claim that honour.
At the start of 2016, Royal Bank of Scotland were commissioning new banknotes. After asking the public to help choose who should feature, Mary Somerville was selected for the ten pound note. She and Nan Shepherd (who will feature on the new five pound note) will be the first women to have their portraits on Scottish banknotes.

One of the brilliant things about being a photographer is that often I am one of the very first people to see a product, an exhibition or a show, before the public. This was the case at the beginning of July, when the National Museum of Scotland asked me to shoot their ten new galleries of Art, Design, Fashion, Science and Technology. I’m a big fan of the museum and I’ve followed their incredible transformation in recent years, so I was delighted to have the honour of being the very first person to capture the latest stage of their development.

The other day I shot a promotional image for Molly & Me performance artists who where based here in Summerhall for the festival.
I’ve been editing a job I did for the British Sign Language course at Heriot Watt University. This is the first course in the UK at the moment. I really like the images of the hands and the idea of trying to communicate words through simple images.
I shoot a series of cocktails for Bacardi Brown – Forman Brands the other day, working with the fantastic Ian McLaren. The brief was to make unbranded cocktails that look like we could all make ’em, I could have drunk them all any way. A small selection:
I did a three day shoot for Macintosh with Denvir Marketing art directed by Phil Sanderson, here are some images from the shoot and the results what I particularly like is the light boat which Chris wielded round the loch with finesse whilst I was slugging round the mud tit high in water! All images shot with just two Profotos and a California sunbounce on location.
We did a food shoot for Scottish Shellfish last Friday, working with Sean Stewart their development manager and Phil Sanderson of Denvir. Chris did some shots of the shoot which we did at the magic 3/3 studios.
